Default Had a wild idea for a couple portrait

Ceremony and reception were near a pond. Noticed an old aluminum boat up on the hill, about 25 ft from the shore. Asked the groom if he'd be willing to do a shot on the pond, in the boat. He said "sure". As soon as the ceremony ended and the couple were all excited, I told the bride my idea.
"What if my gown gets wet?"
"I bet my gown gets messed up."
etc, etc.

Convinced her, even though neither had ever been in a boat before, and he was clueless about how to row the boat. Needless to say, my original idea of a long shot with my 70-200 was out of the question.

It was a great idea so well done you thinking of it. I think maybe though it was also something of a missed opportunity.

- could have tried to get more reflection from a better angle.
- maybe turn the boat to avoid the gravel hill on the right, and possibly get some backlighting...
- get yourself lower

Cool idea. Maybe a crop to emphasize the boat & couple.

A nice shot. I agree with Gary in that a tighter crop would have improved it.

TOTALLY NAILED IT!

Leave the crop, the scene as a whole is beautiful.. the couple compliment the surroundings.. the surroundings compliment the couple (IMHO).

Good work,
Andrew

I really like this, just as it is. The symbolism of embarking on a journey together across water beyond sight is excellent. They literally are, "in the same boat" now.

Setting the scene could have made it perhaps even more awesome but its nonetheless still a really good shot
