Why would friends and family be part of the proofing process? Wouldn't that be the customers' (bride and groom) action. I agree that it is a good solution for additional orders, though, once the images are chosen.

All the images of the wedding (except those deemed not suitable) get uploaded to Collages (or whoever who choose) and then whoever filled out the card and the reception gets notified by email that the images are there for viewing or ordering if they choose. So it's more than just a "proofing" service, it's actually like an online gallery/proofing/print ordering service. I know with Collages, the client can actually go in and select images they don't want shown to everyone else. I know a few wedding photographers who do the online gallery and give an actual proofbook to the bride and groom. Whatever works best for your business I suppose....

I get it. It isn't really proofing at all, its a print order service. Gotcha.

There are however a LOT of photographers that are using these for proofing. I think only because it's harder to copy the photographs that way. Most of these sites use flash, so unless you hit the "print screen" button, it's difficult to copy the pics.

For viewing I use a program that does both sales & it has a highres production module for $150.00. If you need it does size files, sharpen, vignette, you can layout books. It links to Photoshop for the Highres, & you can link other actions for production. It also does slideshows,it mainly what I use for viewing & ordering, you can customize pricelists to figure tax, shipping, special retouching & many other options.

It is called Proselect, by Time Exposure.
timeexposure.com
for presentation it works great.

I use Photoreflect for all my stuff. Like was said before, no fees only commision, password protect each gallery if needed with its own password, unlimited storage, the express digital software is easy to use. You can set our own prices and elect to have prints fullfilled by one of the many labs and then drop shipped to client or to you or you can opt to fullfill the orders yourself.

Customer service has been prompt and polite

I'm using the PhotoCart by Pictures Pro, and loving it. I hated Pictage, they really border on "scam." If your name isn't David Jay, Jessica Claire, or Denis Reggie, you will go broke with them.

Haven't seen printroom mentioned. $99 / year or $12.95 / month, 13% commission. It's 1GB of storage, but they resize the photos you upload. You can create custom sites for events for an extra $5 / month.
