Depends on what color space you used (sRGB? aRGB?) and did you convert to sRGB prior to upload? Did this come from a Mac or PC? "Save for web" strips EXIF data from the file, so I can't tell much from what's here.

PC..... I think it was RGB. I just re-opened the photo and didn't assign any profile, color to it as you are asked when opening a save to web photo and I looked and it looks to be RGB. Under color settings I have it set to Adobe RGB.

I have a question that came to mind as I was looking for this answer. Under view, proof set up, what option should you chose: working ----- (a list), Macintosh RGB, Windows RGB, or Monitor RGB??

Thanks..

I wasn't even thinking. You downloaded the picture from here and it was in sRGB, so unless you changed it, it stayed in sRGB. Not sure why it appears lighter after uploading.

Normally, you would just turn off proof settings. Only time I use them is when I set the proof settings to my printer ICC to give me an idea of what it should look like printed on my printer.

If you leave them turned, then you're editing in whatever ICC profile you have selected in the proof setup...which may or may not be the optimum

It doesn't matter if "Proof Colors" is unchecked. Unless you're specifically checking your image against a calibrated proof ICC, then just check monitor rgb and don't worry about it. You're getting into the realm of color management that involves calibration of your monitor and printer. We should probably take this conversation to another thread, or you can PM me and I'll see if I can help you further.

Thank you Ohenry.. Yes, I do calibrate my monitor and have in the past calibrated my printer along with it, but its been so long that I just didn't remember off hand and I don't calibrate my printer anymore, but still do my monitor every 2 weeks.

Thank you again. I really appreciate it and your time!! Michele
