You think you've got problems? The French are masters of acronyms! Everything seems to be reduced to capital letters! Can't comment on French photography, but within the voluntary sector of cancer support, it is mind-boggling!

An oft used acronym ( abb.) in the UK at least, and one that irritates me greatly, is PMSL

This could be translated as 'Sitting here giggling with a damp patch in my trousers'

Yes, required because MS-DOS, and later, Windows, has a three-character maximum limit on file extensions. The extension .jpe was used occasionally at one time, but that version has since dropped out of use.
