Bob, you go into your karma summary and click on the person's name.
Then leave a message in their visitor messages.

If you don't have any outstanding karma's showing as a link to click, the easiest way is to click on the link where it says Welcome BobC164 at the top of the page and scroll down.

A harmless way that allows you to show someone you appreciated his post without having to spam the forum with one word postings. The point system is rather meaningless, but it's an easy way to the message across.

Positive karma is usually well received, negative karma is seen as peevish and won't have any consequences.
