Lidl is a large German discount retailer who has made big inroads into the UK grocery market in the last few years. As well as a standard range of foodstuffs they also have a large number of short term "special offers" - the glossy photo paper is one of these, once a year and only for a few days.
The paper is made in Germany by Sihl and is re-badged under Lidl's own label. I have not found such high quality paper at anything approaching this price. For example, Canon's similar paper is priced (on Amazon) at £9-41 for 20 sheets - a huge difference for what I consider to be equivalent quality paper.

You definitely don't want to look at Hahnemühle, Ilford, Museo or Moab papers then. For me it's not just about the paper but the support as well. I mostly use Ilford or Moab as I like the look, but have used all four plus Red River and others. All have a wide selection of ICC Profiles which are as important to me as the paper itself.

I need to go find a stash of Canon and maybe some Red River paper I have never used and find someone to give me $5 for it since I have no printer and probably not going to get back in to that side of photography.

I don't print anywhere near as much as I used to, but on your recommendation, I bought two boxes early on the first day, and they were selling fast.

How did you find out when it was going on sale? I would like to keep an eye out for next year.

For the last several years it has been on sale about this time of the year, although I seem to recollect it did appear once about August time.
I have the LIDL app on my mobile and just keep looking regularly
I do try and post it on PhotoCamel if I can.
