I have a location shoot 1.5 hours away. About 70 old cars with the owners. They want 8x10 prints the next day, with their banner text thing. Could do a Walmart, Walgreens, lab, or plunk down the money for a Canon or Epson. Don't really need one on any sort of regular basis, and have a dye-sub for instant 4x6's at the events I shoot.

Thoughts?

I have the Canon Pro 9500. It takes 8 inks. I only use Canon ink and I've gone months between print jobs without a hitch. I get great color, 13X19 prints and I've yet to have the print head get clogged from lack of use. It's been a fantastic printer and I'm very glad I got it. Ink is expensive but, sticking to Canon ink will ensure great results.

Closest lab is a Walmart, where they get $2.87 for an 8x10. Multiply that by 80, and I'm guessing that an inkjet would pay for itself on this one job.

Waw, that's great news!

How many months, roughly, if I may ask. 1-2 or 5-6. Just trying to get a general idea.

It would not be practical for me to farm out prints. They evolve as I PP and I need to get some feedback with the processing. If I was just a snapshot shooter, OK, but I need more instant feedback.

You wouldn't get a decent Canon or Epson for $230.

It has been discussed before.
If you would like to discuss it again, it would be better on a new thread rather than this one.
