+1 On Bobby Deal's link above!!!!!

I have used the "Short Run Posters" company that he linked to and was quite satisfied with their results. Their 18 x 24 poster is reasonably priced. If you just buy one the price is expensive due to the shipping cost. If you buy 15 the and amortize the shipping over the total quantity then the per unit price becomes reasonable again.

Be sure to allow sufficient time for their slowest turnaround/delivery method, the price for rush orders goes up exponentially.

Be sure to size your image correctly so it fills the whole poster. It is explained pretty well on their web site.

Check out meridianpro.com! Currently they have a big print sale for the month of July. Their quality is outstanding and fast turn around. I have gotten orders returned in a bit over 24 hours, but it helps to live in Kansas where their lab is located. Shipping is $5.95.

Just to throw out more information about the actual cost of printing...

24" x 40' rolls of canvas range from a low of about $90 (Canon Water Resistant Matte Canvas) to $133 (Epson Exhibition Canvas Gloss). That works out to from $1.21 to $1.66 per square foot, or for a 24x36 print a paper cost of $7.26 to 9.96. And frankly the lower cost water resistant canvas would probably be the best for a "poster". (And if they can find some cheap off brand canvas, it's probably fine too!)

Ink for an Epson 7890 printer averages about 60 cents per square foot, so perhaps worst case could be maybe $1 per, and the total would be $6. The lowest to expect would be $3.60 per print. (I wouldn't touch anything printed with non-OEM inks to save a couple bucks here. They are not tested for archival quality, and will not last.)

So the actual cost for materials to make a 24x36 inch canvas print ranges from $11 up to $16 each on an Epson 7890 printer. Throw in overhead, labor, and possibly shipping costs for those materials, and $15 to $20 appears to be a zero profit range.

I am a graphic designer and sell a lot of retail print jobs, my cost for a 24" x 36" poster is about $14 wholesale which I usually double, so anything less than that and you got a decent price.

I've used APS photo lab for a while. Their prints are perfect and it looks like you'd be able to get your poster print for around ~$30 on professional photo paper.
