Default Background Effect.

Hello guys,

I hope everthing goes well, I wanna share an experiment i tried last night, i saw several Ads in the Vogue Magazine with Images shot in the Night, where i could see some beautiful dots in the dark night, so this is what i did:

I used a black background and putted some christmas lights on it, i moved my model far away from the backdrop and opened my lens all the way up, F2.8, i used only the modeling lights of the main and hair light, dragged the shutter at 1/4 of second, the image was a little bit blurred but with Nik Sharpener saved it and ta da...... I hope you like it..... I will try it again with some bigger and powerful christmas lights......

That is gorgeous....

The blur actually works with the skin in my opinion... but It would be nice to have the tack sharp eyes.

The dots directly behind her ear distract a tiny bit, I would clone those out...

Wonderfully Creative and Inspiring Work...

Al,

Years ago a photographer buddy of mine did something similar. He bought a large piece of thick black polyester material and cut it in half then sewed the two halves together to make one piece that was nearly square. He stapled it to a wooden frame then melted small round holes in it by heating a piece of round pipe with a small torch. After that he took small pieces of red, blue and green photographic gels and taped them across the back of some of the holes. He also left some white. To use it he placed it about six feet out from an all white wall and positioned a flash unit aimed at the wall. When it fired against the white wall all of the gels glowed in the background. It looked cool!

Looking good.

I wonder if with that black background some simple photoshop would not do the same ... if not 1/2 covered by the model when it gets a bit more tricky.

Benji,

Thanks for the explanation, it's always nice to try new things no matter how complicated it might become....

Felix, you are right about photoshop, but sometimes i want to do it the old fashion way...
