It's been a number of years since I've been here. I'm gonna give it a whirl again I guess. I'm in Florida right now but will be back home again in Indiana next week (DRAT!!!)

Maybe I can add some interest to the critique area like I used t do. I will post some of my work next week that I have done since retiring.

I'm so glad to see you here, Benji. I'd love to see your work again and get some input from you. I told Fran this year, I'm determined to focus on formal portraiture, with controlled lighting and everything. I've put my part-time business on hold for the next 4 years until I can retire from my full-time job, and in the meantime, I'll be learning. I could sure use your help!

Also, I'm very interested in "good" food photos, so anything that I learn here, hopefully I can transfer over to still life type photos too. I am also determined to learn to make my own light for these photos, as Brooks always encouraged; I figure I can honor him by finally learning it.

Anyway - lots of words to say - let's get this going again!
Sis

Sis,

I'm glad to be back. If I remember from my lessons on photographing food (in 1982!!!) one should use a rather hard light source from an angle that creates texture. The light should leave highlights on the edges of the food and it should NOT have dark shadows. Of course proper white balance and exposure is a must. The photographers on the Create TV show starring Steve Reichlein do some outstanding food shots. Check 'em out.
