I wear a ball cap all the time... it only gets in the way when I shoot a vertical oreintation, then I just push off my head or turn it backward. The brim is nice when chimping in bright sun. It also helps cut down the blinding glare bouncing off my bald head.

i looked into a few vests and shirrts. when i doscoverd that my fly fishing vest was about the same style. so i saved the money and have used that. its amazing what good fishing gear can do for the photog.

NFL, over half the guys you see with the big lenses around the sidelines wearing baseball caps. Recent IRL auto race here, every photographer in 'the row' had a cap on. You'd better let Sports Illustrated and NFL Films know there are novices running around with their press passes.

I'm not making the connection between what you wear, and the quality of your images.

Looking novice or pro is not a big deal either, but when you see Mr. Pickles and Latinbob together shooting, we do look kind of geekish.

Not crazy like when we took my PT Cruiser 4x4'in through a field to shoot images of old discarded toilets

The photo master onsite thought we was nuts

Vests are nice, with lots of pockets. But if you shoot around other people, Pleeeze don't use the fishing vest. Do you know how bad it can get on a hot day for those folks standing down wind of you? Oh the horror.

It does clean out the sinuses though.
