Sad but true. I learned this long ago when teaching university students, who should be enlightened but, alas, judge a book by its cover like the rest of us.

Thankfully in the tech industry jeans are the suit of choice.

Got one of those "photographer's vests" with all them pockets and zippers too. But I've never yet worn it...

Ik gebruik liever een goeie foto-tas of, nog liever, m'n speciale foto-rugzak.
Wat jij, Max? Dat zal in Huizen vermoedelijk nauwelijks anders zijn, toch?

I have two broad brimmed hats, one straw and one is a Indiana Jones type that folds up and goes in a pocket.* At WallyWorld I stumbled upon jeans with nylon down the front of the legs and up the back to the knee....good for brush and kneeling in moist areas. For foot wear I have a pair of Ten dollar* high top fabric and leather hikers. For the body I have a Domke camera vest....so many pockets I often loose stuff.

My camera bag, for the Canon 20D is the Lowepro Slingshot 200 AW and it holds all the gear.

That is it, keep it simple.......har har har.

Max@Home zit in Castricum )

Groeten,

I think those guys must both have a northern accent... I can't understand a word they're sayin'!

I've got a vest but the digital revolution made it less useful because I used it mainly to carry film. Vests are good, I'll get a new one someday that will handle my batteries and cards better, maybe a lens or two.

I guess you could say I'm a tech shooter, I always wear jeans or painter's pants. In the studio I wear t-shirts and on location a white button down, no tie. I always wear a ball cap to keep from sunburning my bald head; Dexters for shoes. It's true that most people judge you by your appearance... and I guess I like to have them judge me as a hick... I always have fun with that later on.

When I shot lots of nature photography I wore old Marine utilities, lightweight hiking boots and a daypack.

I use a photo vest, a raincoat from gore tex material and for carrying things around either my billingham 555 or one of my lowepro AW bags.

Ja, ik heb uit m'n filmtijd ook nog zo'n grote fotokoffer met stalen 'wafeltjes'-buitenkant. En daar zit inderdaad m'n film-fotospul in. Al járen ongebruikt... :-\
En dat vest heb ik nooit durven aandoen. Ben je meteen zo'n vreselijke nerd!

I have a Domke photo vest that I have started to wear everywhere, so it has transcended photography. It's a lot more convenent that carrying a bag when I'm taking pics. Its great for batteries, filters, manuals, and other lenses. I want one of those cool wide brimmed hats, but the vest makes me look dorky enough!

If it's more important to you to look like Indiana Jones than to take good photos, then by all means get one of those cool wide brimmed hats, Bob. It may be a 'nice' fashion statement, but every other photographer around can also see from a mile distance that you're a novice 'photographer': hats' brims and caps' bills always get in the way big time when you want to take a picture.

Thats another reason I don't have one! Its sure not about fashion for me. I probably need a hat to keep my hair out of my face. Maybe I just need a haircut!
