its kind of hard to say how many keepers v how many rejects you should expect. are you talking about portfollio quality pieces or jsut really good shots? i find i am constantly setting the bar higher and higher and constantly update my book. as far as my personal shots, ill keep them all ( i may not print them all bt i like them), regardless if they are good or not. i guess its not about numbers so much as showing improvement. as you get better you will set the bar higher and have less "keepers" but more great shots to share.

I have been actively taking photo's since 1947 in high school and I'm not sure sure that I have ever taken a "keeper"!

It seems like my ratio is anywhere from 1:10 - 1:20. That doesn't seem very good to me.
My ratio is probably 100:1 or 200:1, depending upon how I define "good." Pictures like this one are more like 5000:1 for me:

If I am the judge of what is really good, I would not have kept a single shot. You should not look at ratios. Try looking at how close you came to what you tried to shoot and judge yourself on "close" or "far" you were that day.

Numbers are for employers and accountants.
