Thumbs up Best Budget DSLR Lenses

I wasn't exactly shopping around at the moment, however saw this article on another site I follow. Good read, epecially if you are looking to save a few bucks with your next lens purchase.

Speaking of which, any of you Nikon guys own the Nikon 58mm f/1.4? What are your thoughts on it?

If you mean the ancient 58mm for F-series,
my thoughts are rather negative. Serious
corner shadowing ... well, not really just in
the corners, veiling, ghosts etc. Acoarst it's
not as bad as the f:1.2. There ! OK, I said
something nice about it

If you intend to use it for APS-C, it's really
not too bad. All of its f/1.4 light gathering
ability is jammed into the center anywho,
and you'll have an 85mm FoV [FF equiv] in
a 1.4 lens. As the bokeh cult apostate, I've
got no problem the straight iris blades in
old lenses. I like the polygons, but YMMV.

Hmmm, I'm not really impressed with any of those lenses. I think I'd rather wait a few more weeks, save a bit more money and get a better lens.
