Default salt of the earth

Hello
I watched a movie called Salt of the earth last night. It is about a photographer that did a lot of work about the suffering in Africa. And he also did work on his grandfathers land and turned it back into a forest. I should have written his name down but I didn't because I thought I would remember it. Anyone here that could help me with his name??
Rich

Rich,
You're welcome. Haven't seen the film but intend to. He is indeed a remarkable guy. I don't think there's a better photographer in his line of work alive today. His ability to shoot scenes of utter squalor and general awfulness and make them somehow beautiful just mystifies me.

Check out his TED talk if you can find it.

He shot B/W with a Leica for quite some time and then his assistant talked him into going digital because of the hassle with travel and hand inspecting 800 rolls of film. Last I heard he was shooting Canon. His method of processing the files is different then the usual but I am not sure how it goes.

I have not seen the movie or even the Vivian Maher movie.
