Default Digital Memory Cards

Do you erase your digital memory card _after_ you have completed your normal work flow including backups and archiving?

TIA,

Sorry, I mean the "old" card; do you just reformat it and it plug it back in the camera?

Actually, it's...

1. Stick the old card in the camera.
2. Reformat the card.

You shouldn't be formatting using your computer.

I leave them till I need to use the card again. I alwasy format IN CAMERA when i go to use a card. Thats the best way to keep the card in the best shape and from being fragmented or becoming corrupt.

I rotate the cards, erase or format weeks, or months later. I keep the original until I have finished processing all the images, then backup to a DVD and/or my Seagate 100GB portable drives. I got another 2GB SD card this week for $49 at Fry's.

I have lots of cards, of course. At that price, it is only about 2 1/2 cents per MB. When I got my first digital camera, the prices were $2.00 per MB! That $49 card would have costs me $4,000!

In case anyone really cares...

Jim
