Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin have inspired me a lot over the years, Newton more so of the two. Living, I'd say Terry Richardson and Ellen von Unwerth have influenced me a great deal. Terry's work in particular has influenced what I consider to be a "successful" photograph.

joel grimes is cool- love the style- I even made a rough 'joel grimes action' for photoshop which I can then adjust to taste dependign o nthe photo- I also have a Camera raw file 'preset' for a Jill Greenberg style wehuich works pretty well for a certain look- I don't care for greenberg's politics or the way she attains her cryign kid photos, but the look is kinda cool- Eggelston was a pretty good photographer too- and i've created an action for a 'basis' of the eggleston look- although it's hard to replicate that really rich dye transfer look- but I've got a result that is pleasant

So many good photographers- Jay Maisel of NY- Adnre Dragan- etc etcv etc- so many good ones

Jay Beckman - Crosswind Images http://crosswindimages.com
He has been my Sensei while learning the art of photographing things that fly.

My grandfather, Owen Berg (passed away many years ago)
As a kid, some of my best memories were watching him take photos of all sorts of things and then develop the slides himself. Many prints made from those slides are hanging in our families houses and I ended up with some of his old cameras including a Brownie.
I never understood how talented he was until I was given a box of his "reject" slides to convert to digital. Many of those are good enough for magazines and his "keepers" still inspire awe as my family combs through the hundreds of boxes of slides.

We're still scanning! Once done, I plan to build a site so the whole family and anyone else can enjoy them.

Here's a few of the rejects...
