Default 4 of diamonds

Playin' around with a couple of planes, smoke and background.
Thoughts, suggestions and critique all welcome.

Yeah, I can see that being tuff. It looks to have a tad of blue in it, but it's almost there if you ask me. Did you try stacking the smoke on a few layers with different blending modes/ opacities? That might help give it a bit more depth/ realism.

Best,
Jay

Mark I love to see your work and I'm always impressed. I just want to make a causal observation about the afterburners on the closest jets. My impression is that the nozzle contracts as the afterburner is engaged. Based on the image I would have thought that the jets at this altitude would be on full afterburner. The jet second from the right appears to have a contracted nozzle while the one on the right and the third from the right do not. I know you strive to have every detail correct, I hope I'm not wasting your time. Great job on all your work.

This one looks great to me. I find it amazing that you can make these models look so real. The slight blue in the smoke does not bother me. I'm wondering if you would see some slight air turbulence coming from the jet engine?

I put in a heat signature in the form of small ripples. But it's just not enough to see it in the web version. I'm posting a closeup of the rear of the right plane.

When I zoomed in on the plane, I did see a black line around the tail fin that must go in order for it to look real.

Your not waisting my time at all. This is exactly the feedback I need in order to get it right for this, and future pieces.
Funny you should mention the turkey feathers. I thought they needed vectoring too.

Not sure why the one in back looks like it's vectored. They are actually molded, unmoveable plastic. I'll have to vector them in PS.

The formation isn't practical, so I'll probably rework this into something more believable.
