Default Figurative montage

I like to make self portrait figurative montages, for this one my idea was to make something without that much colour and keep it on the sort of creamy side. I often start these montages with a couple of totally unrelated images to see what comes out at the end.

I used a brick wall a leaf out an old book and myself in a silver leotard, I put a grey to slightly brown gradient undser the whole thing and used some transparency, luminosity and blend modes to complete it.

What you have done with the tone scale and whatnot is okay, but overlaying with the spots and dark corners makes this look like a water tank with a dirty front wall that could use some serious scrubbing in the corners.

'ello Scoundrel,

The spots were part of the book pages 'foxing' its called and one of the reasons I bought it at our local flea market. Remove the spots and the pic would be bland.

I do like your interpretation though shows a bit of imagination, fair play to you.

Cheers - J

I too like to tones....but find the spots a little distracting and they take my eye away from the good work you have created...

Would love to see without the spots...if possible...
Best wishes Ray

Hello Ray,

Glad you liked the image but a bit like the Curates egg The spots are as much a part of the image as I am. I like to make montages from totally unrelated images and then try to put them together. It's a fascinating thing to do I find it far more interesting than the single image.

Kind regards - Jem
