Thanks you for a nice comment and thank you for the suggestion. I have a simpler solution to the problem: let the cat out They(*) are half-strays and are free to wander around (we live in a village) and so they have plenty of poortunities to do the "pedicure" whenever they want. The only problem now is that we have winter with quite low temperatures and so we allow them to stay in the house and spend nights in the garage

(*) We also have another rusty male cat (just less saturated), and also their (grand)mother which occasionally comes home. Here's how they look like:
