What is a "micro two thirds Pentax system"?

Thanks to any who can enlighten me.

Not heard of that term before, but would assume it is some "slang". As far as I know the Pentax world is full of 4x6 format sensors, which can be called half of that, or 2:3 or 3:2 size in crop.....?

I think you might be on the right track, but I'm not really sure. I think it's just another solution without a problem.

If the camera industry had never came out with a cropped sensor and just went with a full frame to begin with, things would have been so much simpler! What were they thinking? A cropped sensor? What was the reason for such a thing? I think it was nothing more than to keep the overall size of the camera down, but.... holy Moses, what did they actually gain by that?

I never had a problem with the 35mm format back in the film days! But, I'm just an old codger that's still living in yesteryear!
