Default Pentax Sweets? Really?

Anyone seen these new camera bodies from Pentax, the Sweets Collection? Decent DSLR cameras (20-million-pixel APS-C ) feature a white body, wrapped in a "sweet" ribbon of fun color with "sweet" names of "Strawberry Cake" (pink), "Lime Pie" (lime), and Blue Cream Soda" (cyan). Say what?

According to Ricoh, who owns Pentax, these “make digital SLR photography even more fun, while fitting perfectly with your personal style”. Marketing? Or do you believe it?

Check them out here....

What's the difference? Pretty much every color is more fun than black, it's just that I don't look at my camera for fun, while taking photographs, save for the occasional mirror selfie, of course

I would not get them specifically for their color and I don't think Pentax does themselves a big favor by producing them, but I can see the appeal to some people and would not hesitate to use them except when photographing shiny objects.

But again, it's probably not a product with a big enough market and who is going to stock so many colors of a niche manufacturer of a niche product that tries to create an even smaller niche?

I think you summed up my inner feelings. I don't think it makes photography "fun".

An interesting new Pentax for sure, Mr. Pickles. Some very good specs too.
