That is pretty darn good for 4000 ISO, Bogey. It will be up to Lauren to decide if he needs that level of sensitivity in his day to day shooting.

I agree and I am in no way trying to dissuade him from buying a K7. It is by all accounts an excellent performer and at an attractive price point right now.
I am always hesitant about posting links to other forums and if it is frowned upon I will stop but here is a thread about K7 and higher ISO success you might like:

no problem at least it is a other forum about pentax cameras . results look nice . Lauren will have to decide what he does . i still love my K10d . keep good care of it want to keep it like new a long time

yeah and even then we can still let it fix if it may get defect , but i think it is pretty solid camera only about 1780 clicks of 150.000 so a long way to go bogiesbad

Yep, I have under 3000 clicks on my K7 - so I have a long way to go before I wear that shutter out.

Lauren, this site worked for my K7 and ist DS. It claims to work for the K10d as well. Just upload an image and it will report the # of shutter activations.
