I'm all gain for Yellowstone. I think its a 23 hour drive for me which I am more than willing to do. Better than dealing with flights..

23 hour drive? Aren't you in California? Dang, how far is this place from Okie-La-Homer?

Do they have potatoes there?

This might help people decide if they can make the drive to Yellowstone or not...

What - no route map from Liverpool ?

Anyway, Yellowstone looks like a great place. Maybe I can get over on my own as I'm due a holiday. When's the best time to visit?

I can understand why people would think of the Northwest first though. After all, where else can you get the scenic pictures that you can get in Oregon. Shoot, even Washington has a few good spots to take pictures at.*

So obviously Oregon would be a prime choice to meet.

Nah!, I ESCAPED from there 6 years ago after spending 15 years there. 13 in Oregon and 2 in Washington (Whidbey Is). Colombia, S.A. is too far for any of you to come and too far for me to go there, that's why I have the internet.

Potatoes are great. Rippled Potato Chips, even better. Do they have potatoes anywhere but Idaho?

Yeller Stone is 21.5 hours from here, whcih translates to 1400 miles per the Yahoo hooo link.

I figure since i have never been to yellowstone, that anytime is the best time. Outdoor Photography magazine this month has a good article on "Yellowstone in Winter".

Washington is pretty well known for their potatoes and Oregon grows some of the best chippers and fry patatoes known to man (and McDonalds). The chippers are sure ugly patatoes but boy are they big. If one of those bounces out of the truck when it goes by you are going to lose more than a windshield.

I say lets start with July or August. Still some snow on the peaks, wildflowers out in bloom and good variety of wildlife. Won't run into the issues or roads being closed due to snow/ice. I have always wanted to photograph Yosemite in the winter, but I think more people would come if there weren't so many restrictions that winter will put on some. Just my two cents worth.
