I have Rodgers on my fantasy team... but I'm not giving him $176, or $176 million.

Aaron Donald got his mega-deal, setting the market for Khalil Mack.

The Raiders promptly traded Mack to the Bears for two first-rounders and some pick exchanges.

49ers starting running back Jerick McKinnon, he of big free agent deal, possibly has a season-ending knee injury suffered during non-contact drills (after missing essentially the entire preseason).

Denver former first-round QB Paxton Lynch officially a bust, having been cut by the Broncos. Here’s a fun little snippet about where his spot in NFL history lies: https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2...n-perspective/

Wonder if Al remembers Jim Druckenmiller.

Bears gave a future for Mack from the Raiders, and that doesn't make sense on both sides. Bears better hope he pans out well and isn't another Suh (got his big deal from Miami and then was half the player)... but how can the Raiders want a 1st next year AND the year after? They threw in the towel on THIS 1st round pick a few years ago. Guess they draft a player, use him for a couple or few years, and toss him away.

Oh well, just a game played by some way over paid crybabies. Need a salary cap on a POSITION.

Season starts tomorrow. Don't forget to set your pick for Thursday, and for those not named Pickles, the divisional picks. Looks like I'm coming down to the wire too...

I think mine are in, and I have no idea on half of them.

Default Re: NFL 2018/2019 Season

American Football Conference

AFC East
Buffalo Bills
Miami Dolphins
New England Patriots
New York Jets

Who else until Brady retires? Aside from the Pats, only the 2002 Jets and the 2008 Dolphins (led by Tony Sparano, RIP) have won the division in its current post re-alignment form, and the 2008 Pats featured 15 starts (and 3 quarters) of QB play by backup Matt Cassel.

Brady might desperately need someone to step up as a receiving targets (Edelman is suspended to start the season, which means Hogan and Gronkowski will be covered), but he could probably turn the four of us regulars in this thread into serviceable receivers.

AFC South
Houston Texans
Indianapolis Colts
Jacksonville Jaguars
Tennessee Titans

Give me Bill O'Brien and DeShaun Watson over Doug Marrone and Blake Bortles. Houston's defense welcomes back J.J. Watt.

AFC West
Denver Broncos
Kansas City Chiefs
Los Angeles Chargers
Oakland Raiders

This is an ugly, ugly division. Chiefs are doing a mini-rebuild, Broncos are mired in mediocrity, and the Raiders are suffering the results of Jon Gruden's power and cash grab. The Chargers are bit by the injury bug every year (maybe they need a new training staff?), but they should squeak away with the division.

AFC North
Baltimore Ravens
Cincinnati Bengals
Cleveland Browns
Pittsburgh Steelers

Mostly because even with their disgruntled star running back, I trust the Steelers airing it out in their three-receiver sets (even with rookie WR James Washington as their third) more than I trust Joe Flacco throwing to Michael Crabtree and John Brown. The Bengals and Browns are going nowhere fast.

AFC Wild Card Qualifiers:
Jacksonville Jaguars
Baltimore Ravens

Jags should still win enough games on strength of their defense and Bortles' slow improvement at QB. John Harbaugh does enough to save his job beating up on Cincy and Cleveland.

National Football Conference

NFC East
Dallas Cowboys
New York Giants
Philadelphia Eagles
Washington Redskins

The Skins are depending on Adrian Peterson for their running game, and the Cowboys need a new receiving corps. I have more faith in the defending champs than the Giants.

NFC South
Atlanta Falcons
Carolina Panthers
New Orleans Saints
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Panthers haven't been the same since their Super Bowl run. I guess you could say the same about the Falcons, but Steve Sarkisian was a huge change at offensive coordinator.

NFC West
Arizona Cardinals
Los Angeles Rams
San Francisco 49ers
Seattle Seahawks

The Rams are the premier team in the NFC West right now; look for Santa Clara and Seattle to duke it out for second place.

NFC North
Chicago Bears
Detroit Lions
Green Bay Packers
Minnesota Vikings

I don't think Aaron Rodgers is good enough to carry the Packers against the improved Vikings and Bears teams.

NFC Wild Card Qualifiers
Green Bay Packers
Atlanta Falcons

I wanted to squeeze the Seahawks in, but with so many unproven players I couldn't see them moving ahead of Green Bay with healthy Rodgers or the Falcons.

AFC Championship
New England Patriots over Houston Texans

NFC Championship
Green Bay Packers over Los Angeles Rams

Super Bowl XLV
Green Bay Packers over New England Patriots

Tom Brady gets Edelman back from suspension and he's healthy enough post-ACL to move the chains all the way to the conference title game. Second-year wonder DeShaun Watson flies high but his inexperience does him in against dark lord Bill Belichick; Bill O'Brien does not get to complete the circle.

The Rams show that last year's ascension was real, but Aaron Rodgers gets hot late in the season, and the Packers make it to the big game as road warriors.

Brady and Rodgers face off in Atlanta in a showdown of California natives, both part of the old guard at QB, and Brady essentially passes the torch to Rodgers... but not for long, as many young gunslingers wait impatiently for next season and their shot at the title...

Al's (sarcasm) favorite white pajamas, the 1994 throwbacks, drop shadow numbers and all, are making an appearance in Santa Clara in Week 7 on Sunday Night Football.

I guess that was Super Bowl #5, so they can't be all bad?

Al, Steven, just post your division picks when you’ve got them ready.
