With a quick glance, this looks weird to me. Basically, the age distribution in the US is evenly divided (except in the 70 to 85+ bracket). Which, to me, doesn't look normal.

The only explanation I can come up with is massive migration in both directions, which is not normal too.

In answer to the post before the more recent, my first name has only one L. If you forget, you can look closely at my avatar, which has my first and last name in it as the limits of integration. Or, if you actually know calculus, you can evaluate the mathematical expression, which gives my name as the answer, with a multiply between the first and last name, but you will need some outside knowledge, that you already have, to guess which order to put them in.

I was a little surprised at the lack of a noticeable bump in the age distribution myself. I explain that by the fact that, without the higher birth rate of the baby boomers, the distribution would start falling off fairly steeply at age fifty or so. The boomers flatten out the distribution around this age, even showing a slight peak at the 50-60 age group, then start a really steep decline starting at age 60.

Cheers, mate.

My issue is not with the letter L but rather A or E. Meaning, is it Alen or Alan. I guess it's the latter.

I thought the French version was spelled Alain, which is pronounced more or less the same as my name, allowing for the French nasalization of the final n and more stress on the second syllable.

Emphasis on the first syllable, "short" A as in the first syllable of California, albatross, Calgary, or Alabama. Second A is sort of a "schwa" vowel and is pronounced much as the unaccentented vowel in the second syllable of mountain or villain or the second A in Alabama.

I would have liked to put in an audio clip but this site doesn't allow it, as far as I can tell. As far as making the explanation more complicated, I might be able to manage it, but I would have to work at it.
