Default Photobucket Randsomware

If, like me, you used Photobucket to store and use third party sharing, your photographs have been replaced on all outside places, like Photocamel. They now want you to pay 399 dollars to get them back. Such a shame to have ruined so many threads and photos, here, ebay, Proboards etc.

I have filed a complaint with the Colorado Attorney General and you can file the online Consumer Fraud complaint on their site, also. They are holding all my images for randsom.

I can see if all the new people that sign in had the option of 3rd party hosting. But for those of us who had been there for years!!! There should not have been able to go back and change there usage.

I went back to look at our departed member Tony's beautiful pictures, and like mine, they are all now destroyed. Very sad.

This is now what everyone's photos who did not buckle to Photobucket's randsom of $399 looks like.

What about your offline backup ? Could take hours
to move stuff but you're prolly "earning" $150/hour
while doing it.

Are you saying that he operators of the PhotoBucket
site are the pirates, or are you saying the sites been
hacked by pirates. Not clear.

Mebbe I should just google to other sources ....

Later

I have already moved them to a new site so the photos are fine, I just hate to see all the threads ruined by Photobucket.

It is not ransomware in my opinion. You are using a free online hosting page that has changed their rules for posting to another site. I have used Photobucket for years to share many things with people. If they want to charge to use THEIR servers so sites like this do not have to use server space..so be it.

I received no warning about their change in policy. So yes, I consider it ransomeware. People that have paid are still not getting their photos out or able to post 3rd party.
