Been a tough year so far.

I am not much of a country music fan, but I was a fan of Merle Haggard. Even though, for the most part, his politics and mine were polar opposites, he was authentic, and I truly respect and admire that. I saw him in concert back in the mid-80's in Dallas. He was the real deal.

I thought my real name is kind of boring (a la David or John), but seeing Gato Barbieri made me feel better about my name

Yeah, this is starting to freak me out a bit. I saw him back during the Purple Rain tour in the 80's. A great show by a great artist.

The people we loved when we were young were our age when we first heard and liked their music. They age as do we. Time is catching up to all of us. It's sad to see good friends go.

I was a young teenager when Purple Rain hit big.
I will never forget a lot of his songs. age 57 just seems weird for him, he never strike me as a crack head or anything? and just a great musician. That is really too bad : (
