I've got a 6-Plus on order, the 128 gig model. I held a mockup at the Apple Store in Omaha the other day, and my hands are big enough to handle it. I don't hold it up to my ear very often any more, using headphones in the house and the hands-free in the car, so the size is less of a concern.

I'm still using a flip phone so I can talk to people in 1998.

In my opinion they are under rated. You can have my flip phone when you pry it from my dead hand.

Nice! Do vacations over new phones, for sure.

Impressive. It will take some big hands to handle that thing, I think.

I was going to get one until I saw about the "bending" problems ! Decided to get something a bit more robust instead - then I sat on it............

Let us know how you like the 6 Plus (if you ever actually get it...the back order is a few years or so).

I started this thread, so I'll update it: I ordered (and received) an iPhone 6. I realized after a day of fiddling with it that it wasn't for me. I felt the phone was, well, 90% frivolous. And for me--a person who wants a communication device that is mostly there when I need it but not obtrusive when I don't--the iPhone is mostly a burden.

Cons:
  • The size is wrong. It's too tall and not wide enough. Too tall to fit comfortably in my front pocket. Not wide enough to type on comfortably. Turn it sideways, and it's even worse for typing.
  • Lots of crapware installed. Photos, weather, health, notes, reminders.
  • Call quality is not great. Isn't that what a phone is supposed to excel at?
  • Weight: It was surprisingly heavy. Brick in pocket?
  • Didn't seem that fast to me. I've a feeling the every-increasing processor speeds of these things is needed to keep up with the ever-increasing bloatware that is the iPhone OS (which you are not allowed to "downgrade" with a faster, older version).

Pros:
  • none
My old, tiny blackberry just does what I need in a phone: it makes calls, checks my email, and makes it easy for me to respond to email and texts without error. Then it gets the heck out of my way. Unfortunately, it's dying.

The keyboard on these screen-only phones is just an insult. They distract you with "type ahead" features and the inevitable spelling pop-ups that correct the mistakes you make because the "keyboards" suck in the first place.

Cost aside (which is way too expensive for an unlocked phone), the iphone is not for me. It's for kids. I'll pass.

After all the pre-release hype, the iPhone 6 left me with a huge "so what" feeling.

I'm hoping the (forthcoming) blackberry classic will give me what I really need in a phone and will last me another 6 years or so.

Full disclosure: I do not pull out my phone while waiting in line at Starbucks. I prefer to look around.
