Default Hey Parents! Read!

Yeah. I made the mistake of buying toys for my recent sons birthday with out researching customer reviews.

Two of his toys were crap and guess what? The customers reviews were crap too. I did it Bassakwards and read the reviews after he received the crappy toys.

A) Don't do what I did.

B) Read customer reviews of a toy BEFORE buying it.

Yeah I know common sense, but I do think many people will go into a store and buy Christmas and Birthday toys for their kids and relatives without checking online for the customer reviews. I will now always check before buying toys.

Lesson learned.

The ones I read about the toys were pretty much dead on. I guess this makes me a kook.

What sort of reviews do toys have? Just curious because I dont look for toys. As long as they look somewhat fun, they were fine, when I was a kid.

Most review section of a site will ask you the Pros and Cons.

Pros for example would be durable, educational, engaging, interactive and lots of fun.

Cons would be, Boring, flimsy, heavy, poor design, misleading.

Assuming you're around my age... what kind of review can you put for a block of wood with wheels..

I had weeble woobles and such. The only education I got is that they hurt like hell when someone winged them at you.

Now that you ask...

* Whether the wood has sharp corners or tends to splinter.

* If the wood is painted or varnished, whether the finish has any toxic heavy metals in it. (Remember all those toys from China that had to be recalled because of the lead paint?)

* How well the wheels stay on and whether they are likely to break.

* If the wheels do come off, how likely are they to have sharp points or edges (broken ends of axles) or easily-swallowed fragments, e.g., small wheels or axle caps.

And that's just safety and durability issues. How much fun is the toy to play with is another issue altogether for more complicated toys than blocks with wheels.
