Default Space Shuttle Launch (Florida) - Meetup.

I posted this in my original thread but thought it may get lost in the middle.

The Space Shuttle is still set to launch on July 1st @ 3:49 p.m.

Maybe we can schedule a time/place to meet up and maybe have breakfast or lunch prior to launch. I wonder how close we can get on the beach for shots? I am driving up that way today and will check things out.

Any ideas? Post them here.

That's a bummer. I think there is another launch in August and November.

I'm at the Holiday Inn at Cocoa Beach right now. Enjoying my 16th Anniversary. Most hotels were booked for today and this one said they are booked for next weekend as well. If anyone is planning on staying the night, you may want to consider looking online for a hotel before you leave. Melboure is quite close to the south and may have rooms available. Time for a dip in the pool or Atlantic.

You are at a hotel, in Cocoa Beach, on your 16th Anniversary, presumably a wedding anniversary, and you are posting on the Camel about the space shuttle.

Priorities are important

I'm getting ready to go and shoot a sunrise at the moment. One nice thing about always being up before the sun. I'm hoping for some clouds to help me out anyway.

It only takes a few minutes to make a few posts here.

Just an update... the Launch is still on schedule as of this morning. Looking at the news, it appears the weather should be nice. Of course, Mother Nature has a whole week to prove them wrong. :

Here is a shot toward the Launch Pad from the Holiday Inn about 2 miles south of the Cocoa Beach Pier. (400mm f5.6) I will be trying to get a bit closer than this. Probably try to find a location off 528.

Isn't there a highway over there that kind of brushes by a fenceline that is still pretty far off from the shuttle launch, but you can clearly see the launch pad from where it sits? Not too too far...

I can probably still get up there, but wherever we go, if it's a site to see the shuttle launch, gotta be there early and with cooler of soda / water in the car... it'll be a scorcher.

Hooking up for breakfast or whatever would be a great idea.

Sounds like fun.

I think that may be 528.

OK, we'll have to keep an eye on the weather and news.

Well, it was looking kinda iffy yesterday with the weather. I watched the news this morning and saw that the weather should be cleared up by the time the shuttle is scheduled to launch. Looks like the launch is still a go.

We will have to pick a place to meet up for breakfast and I think we are considering parking along 528 at the Indian or Banana River (forgot which one is closer). That way we can get there early and bring out fishing poles to help kill time for the day.

If anyone knows of a good place for breakfast, let me know.
