Question MPB review - good or bad?

Hey guys, my 24-70mm has been giving me problems lately. The autofocus has a grinding noise to it, however it still works. The lens is long out of warranty so I didn't fuss over it. I was reading this article that came across my FB feed https://www.photographytalk.com/mpb-review today. I've heard of KEH, but not this MPB company. BTW what is with these company names? KEH, MPB, what in the world do these stand for?

Anyway, on that MPB site, they have a "Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8G IF-ED" that is selling for $1019 bucks. They say it's in excellent condition. In real world terms, what does that mean? I know MY definition of "Excellent". But not sure where theirs is.

Can you comment on this please?

BTW have you bought used before? If you know of a better place, let me know. Thank you.

One other thing, would you stick with the 77mm 24-70mm or spring on newer one that is 82mm and VR?

Worth the $$ to upgrade?

Thanks again!

I have bought from mpb and KEH and have never been disappointed. Their excellent is often my mint. I also buy from Roberts subsidiary UsedPhotoPro with the same results.

I have used MPB in the UK from when they opened here and have always had great service even when I had a problem with a camera they dealt with it quick.

Never heard of that one, thank you. Who's the largest, any idea?

I think that they all are pretty big. The offer a warranty on used. I check on all three when I am in the mood to buy because one might be cheaper on a given model. MPB is an international company while KEH is in Smyrna, Georgia and Usedphotopro and the parent Roberts is in Indianapolis, Ind. I would not be afraid to buy from any of them. I can not say about the prices they give for buying but I doubt you would get more than you could get by selling direct, if you can find a buyer.

Pretty much everything in my signature came from MPB!
Well, the 50mm came from Roberts Camera and the 85mm and Flash came from KEH.
Everything else came from MPB. I sell to them as well. It's my favorite camera store now.
