To me these are nice photos except for the shadow on the neck of one of the animals. I guess with nature photography one cannot always expect of have studio lighting.

The top photo looks like it depicts two different kinds of giraffe, or am I wrong and these are just variations of the same species? The one I am more familiar with is represented by the animal on the left.

Both are supposed to be Rothchild's giraffe. They are the most endangered one among the five species.

Odd. The one on the left looks like a reticulated giraffe to me, but then differentiating between different kinds of giraffe has become of importance to me only very recently and I am still new at it.

I looked at the other pictures I had taken on that day. Both types were there. There was an information board about Rothchild's giraffe at the enclosure. So I assumed all are of that species. It is quite possible they are of different species and the board was there only to make people aware of the endangered status of the Rothchild's species. It is unusual though to put different species together.

In Knowland Park Zoo, they put the giraffes and the elands in the same enclosure. Example:

I wouldn't be too alarmed about having different giraffes in the same enclosure. They don't interbreed, even in the wild where different varieties' ranges overlap. Current theory is that the youngsters imprint on their parents' skin pattern and that figures into their choice of mating partners.
