Default The Lizard of Oz

No - this isn't a portrait of one of our Prime Ministers who was famously dubbed this name by the press when he placed his arm on Her Majesty's back during one of her visits to Australia.
Found her in the garden emerging from hibernation and seeking warmth by our hot water service.
The Eastern or Common Blue-tongue Lizard (Tiliqua scincoides scincoides - I wonder why they have to repeat that! )
She wouldn't oblige by putting her lovely blue tongue out.
Most welcome in my garden as they devour snails with relish!

Thanks George. I would have loved to have got the blue tongue out, but to do so would have had to alarmed her, and I couldn't do that. They get quite tame and are very gentle.
Thanks for the K's!

Great shots Lyn. Tiliqua scincoides has two subspecies, the other one is the Northern subspecies which is called Tiliqua scincoides intermedia

Thanks Gautam. I think there are 4 other Blue-tongues as well, 2 now listed as vulnerable, which is a shame.

Thanks Warpdriver1 and Mira.
I gave her some snails this am. What a life - heated accommodation and room service snails! LOL.
