Smile 150mm Soft Focus Lens for RB67

Just got my hands on a 150mm soft focus lens for my Mamiya RB67proS which also came with 3 discs and no info... I'm wondering how to install the discs and what the numbers on the discs refer too. If anyone has a clue please reply... Thanks

The disks are inserted into the lens to give you the soft effect.....the larger the disk, the softer the image. You simply screw the lens apart in the middle and put the disk of choice in....cheers....Bob

I should add that no disk at all is the maximum softness at a given f/stop, and that regardless of disk choice, the soft effect is virtually gone by f/8

Can't thank you enough for the literature... I'm a little sceptical about twisting on lens components when I don't have the knowledge... Now I'm educated, thanks again...

I absolutely love mine, but rarely use it for portraits (yet...)
I took this early last fall, when the 150 was the only lens I had at the time.
The 150SF sees a lot of usage on my 4x5 with the RB lensboard I made up, works like a champ and covers with room to spare.

Shot with Mamiya RB67, 150mm SF lens (no disc, F4) Efke R100 film.

I just got mine today! .....and have one of the same questions....

The second number on the disks (5, 5.6, 6.3).....I assume these are the f/ factor for use of the disk at the f/4 aperture on the lens....n'est-ce pas?

Here's a few quick pics....forgive the crapitude, all I had around the house was a sunpak 544, a SV 75w Tungsten hotlamp and the ambient lights.....oh, and an old pack of Polacolor 679! lol Yes...there is dust, but I wasn't about to spend an hour cleaning them...they're just for fun! lol

First one is no disk at f/4
The second is disk #3 at f/4 with flash
Last 2 are disk 3 with Tungsten ambient light

Notice the interesting effect on the christmas lights behind the subject....

Since the above link is dead, can anyone tell me what the "M /N" switch on the side of this lens does?

I just got one and am trying to figure it all out.

Thanks,

Ah, ha, is this the "mirror lock up" feature? I think I just figured it out. But any info on this lens/system is welcomed as I've not ever used it.
Thanks,

I have the lensboard information here also. as well as the 150 sf manual here.

As to the M/N control, the M setting is the mirror up setting, when you trip the shutter release, the mirror will go up, shutter close and aperture stop down, rear baffles open and then you can trigger the lens shutter with a cable release screwed into the lens.

You may want to refer to the RB manual here
