Besides any scientific interest these images may have, they also make interesting abstracts. (Then again, that also applies to a fair number of your other shots as well.)

Might also be interesting to experiment with crossed polarizers (on flashgun and lens) if you haven't already.

Fabulous Brian - the competition for me this week (in another place) is "Abstract" and as we have spawn in our pond at the moment too, I am going to pinch your idea and have a go!

Scoundrel - yes I have tried cross polarisation I didn't like the effect plus there is a very large light loss which stops me taking rapid shots for focus stacking.
