Default Lightroom White Balance for studio shots

OK I always seem to have problems with white balance in the studio and I know I should probably set my camera to Flash but I thought just as easy to convert in Lr.....

Well. Here's a few images over the next few threads showing differences and also I'm questioning from the threads below what do you think looks right.

1. & 2. - Lr Flash WB setting
These were converted using the Flash WB option. I think these are way to warm and wonder why? I used 2x Elinchrom BX flash heads. Not sure of their colour temp but Lr shows both as 5500 temp/0 tint.

And finally the As Shot setting - Colour settings did not change in camera which was on Manual all the time. Temp in the top is 4700 and tint of -4 and in the bottom 3900 and -3...... Why so different? Is it my lights?

7 & 8 - As Shot

I am not sure what the problem is but you should be using custom white balance. There are many methods from white cards to gray cards. But do not rely on your cameras auto settings. there have been many threads on this and I am sure some one will link to one.

In the studio you have total control do not give it up to your cameras auto settings.

I have found it really easy to check your flash manufacturer's specs and see the color temperature your flashes produce. Then set this color temp value to LR and there it is.

Except it varies based on age of the bulb, quality of manufacturing, and power settings.

You're better off doing a CWB shot, especially in a controlled environment where you have time and flexibility.

Before the client arrives shoot a gray card with the same lights that you will be using on them. Make sure you take accurate meter readings, that the ISO is set the same in both the camera and the meter and that there is no glare on the card. In ACR click on the white balance eyedropper then onto the gray card. Instant correct white balance!

It looks like you have a mid gray in your background...use this to set your white balance..(not sure how to do this in LR).. then copy that value to all the other shots in the same set-up.

I think it is more important for all your images to look the same, then it is to be "right"

.
