Default Swingley Road

I just sent this off to be printed on metal for an upcoming show at the local art center where I'm a student and sometime instructor.

Shot last fall near Livingston, Montana. Swingley Rd. is known locally as a particularly scenic drive.

Scenic drive for sure. Let us know how it comes out on metal...

It looked pretty darned good on metal. The main thing is that by printing it that way I saved a boatload of dough on framing.

Montana offers images like this pretty much every time you turn around. For every Wham!-in-your-face scene (Glacier, Tetons (I know, not Montana but close) Yellowstone, etc. there are a hundred more subtle images like this one. The trick is in persuading the viewer to see it the way you did.

I've made this little trip twice now and don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

Thanks for the follow-up on the printing to metal. It is such a different medium it is hard to figure out what works on it and what doesn't.

Agree with the scenery possibilities there. Had a quick pass thru Montana one year in a car and wish i could stop and shoot everything. Have spent time in western North and South Dakota and find it similar, with lots of different looks and scenes. There is a lot of beauty out there if you just look. Goes for any country, not just US. Just got to get out and look.

My wife had a large metal enlargement of photos she took in her studio in a collage printed and it has been secured on the outside bricks of her studio for over 5 years and it still is bright and clear.
