Default Iconic Blue Whale

The Blue Whale at Catoosa, Oklahoma is touted as being one of the most recognizable icons on the historic Route 66. We've driven past this thing a dozen times and there is usually a crowd there. The rainy weather last Friday left the whale deserted and made it the perfect time to stop and grab a few images. Kind of cool place that was built in 1972 and they say, kids used to swim there. It looked like a great place to find a snake...maybe that's the reason for the No Swimming sign..??

Default Re: Iconic Blue Whale

Been there, seen that. Kind of neat. I have relatives living within a half mile of old route 66 between Bristow and Stroud OK. I remember when we used to swim in the creeks and ponds and we never worried about snakes. God protects the kids and the stupid.
