Adobe Labs - Adobe Lightroom 2.0 Beta

Well its my favorite program but now version 2 beta is out.
If you have bought lightroom it will work longer than 30 days ofcourse.
It will install besides 1.3.1 and not over it.

In case anyone wants to play with Beta 2.0, and heavy on the "play" word (don't use it for real work), this is some of what is included (may or may not make the final version, and more may materialize)...

Localized corrections — Enhance specific areas of an image for unsurpassed nondestructive flexibility and control reminiscent of the traditional darkroom dodge and burn experience.

Improved organizational tools — Find the images you need quickly and easily.

Multiple monitor support — Add an additional monitor to efficiently manage photographic workflow and presentation.

Flexible print package functionality — Create custom layouts containing multiple sizes of a photograph on a single page.

64-bit support — Lightroom 2.0 now takes advantage of the latest hardware architectures with improved memory handling and performance.

By the way, my first initial impression wasn't good when I noticed right off the bat that they forgot to put the H in Lightroom in the install filename....

spelling aside.. the localized correction gave me a somewhat firmer lower regions =)

Might consider setting it up for a little production work actually even though its beta just for that function =)

And hope that the file changes are written to the DB in a "format" that the final version recognizes and converts...?

Here's a more full description of some of the features:

John Nack on Adobe: Lightroom 2: The deuce is loose!

In particular, aside from the localised adjustment tool, I like the addition of the post cropping vignette, the move of Adobe to improve output sharpening and to be able to apply output sharpening to exports as well as prints, increase in the size limit to 30,000 pixels coupled with the ability to export several images at once for a panorama or merge to HDR in Photoshop.

Looks good so far, so I hope the final version is good.

Interestingly, if you have Lightroom 1.x, the time won't expire until the end of the Beta period on 31 August.

Regards,

Peter

Oh god i wish that was a joke

alas. need to get a few more bills paid before i go the posh designy fancy dancy way of the Jobs =)

So far it's been pretty solid. What i do btw (since hopefully you wont think im 100% crazy is to make copies of the images i want to test working with, and then play around with it in Litroom 2.0 (hehe) before going to PS. None of the changes in LR i expect to keep in the future upgrades but it's nice to see how it may change my retouching workflow.
