Default Prospect Mountain

These were taken at the peak of Prospect Mountain which overlooks the town of Lake George, New York.

Nice work.

Looking at the first image I thought it might be the remains of some sort of funicular railroad. A surprisingly short Google search provided this:
THE PROSPECT MOUNTAIN CABLE INCLINE RAILWAY -- LAKE GEORGE, N. Y.
It's remarkable, I think, for the extreme level of engineering detail it delves into. Very interesting, at least to this part-time geek. The last photograph includes what I'm pretty sure is this mechanism.

I was going to ask where the big gear in image #1 came from, but dkcoats' link answered that question. In fact, I see a gear similar in appearance to that gear in the photo of the interior of the power house. The one at right foreground may also be similar to it, but I can't tell for sure.

No. 1 is amazingly well done. I love what HDR will do for machinery when correctly applied.
