Default New HDR Software Review: Introducing SNS HDR

Hello Camel's while digging around the web for the latest news when it comes to HDR.

I have come across a new software (PC Only) that for a start up I must say it's not bad at all.
The software offers

Text Referenced exactly from website.

Features:
  • Import the images in popular graphics formats.
  • Invoking the RAW files.
  • Submission of sequences, variously exposed, HDR photography images.
  • Auto-alignment of images (compensation offset, scale, rotation and perspective).
  • Unique tools for image editing.
  • The possibility of applying masks.
  • Saving images in JPEG and TIF.
  • Built-in batch processing, allowing to automate the machining process.
Overall the loading speed of raw files is nowhere near as fast as photomatix, but that is because the software is adding extra steps to the processing such as: (Alignment, stacking, white balancing,etc..) Everything in the software as far as tonemapping and processing is done in real time so the changes can be seen instantly on the fly. This is a PC version only not sure if the developer plans on releasing a Mac friendly version at this time.

Personal Features I like:
  1. The ability to change the user interface language right from the main screen.
  2. The white balance eye dropper tool shows the changes in color temperature in real time.
  3. image alignment is pretty good could use the feature from photomatix to manual semi ghost removal
  4. Any of the panels can be undocked and float on the screen.
  5. Ability to isolate & target that particular color & instantly see it's changes
  6. Monitor Calibration profile right from the screen.
  7. Probably the best Halo Reduction algorithm I have used so far.
  8. And final the image has an HDR Natural look to it very clean & clear. Ever Step of creating a really good hdr shot can be done in one single software.
So far this program looks very promising I like some of the features it offers.Heck I am eager to test out more images on this

For more information the software demo can be found at this location.

I did a test with my own set of images
this is the end result quick edit.

Here's a list of photos done by the author of this software
it's his flickr account, the app provides some darn good natural looking hdr images.

Software: Too numerous to list but my most used utility is ShiftN for perspective correction

Gear: Canon G12, no tripod, no lenses, no flash, no remote, no cases or bags!

I'm impressed, Josh.

Here is my recent "Morning Walk" post processed with SNS. The 3 bracketed images were hand-held and it has done the alignment well.

Very good Martin I think I am going to play with this app for a while longer would like to see what it can do for interior HDR like showing off a room in a home or hotel room. It is still early on development but for something this early I am really liking it.

The program seems to give nice natural renderings for HDR. Unfortunately, I can not find any MAC version.

Unless you try running it under virtual (VmWare etc..) not sure how well it might work.

Yes you could use but then would have to have windows version of PS. Quite an expensive proposition

Nah Gary no photoshop all you need is to run a virtual emulation of this software all the tonemapping and post processing is done in this one single application. Should it need further touch ups in photoshop then I could see paying for sns pro license which will remove the watermark allowing you to save the image as a 16bit tiff that you can then save it and imported into the mac version of photoshop.

I guess we could try emailing the developer and see what his response might be when requesting info of a possible Mac Version of his app.

My bad. Thought it was a PS plug-in. Was temporarily on a space break.

Good find Josh, though this software has been in development since at least 2009.
There has been a long discussion running on Flickr since it was first released.
The author Pebal, has had some criticism, but kept supplying updates on a regular basis.
You have be somewhat of an obsessive to keep doing this.
I tried it some time ago but it wasn't particularly efficient then. From the results above, it looks like it has been vastly improved.
