GTCU #1983

_1001142 E1-C1 WS.jpg

Here's the description: It could fit in a
large-ish bread box. It is a household,
but not especially kitchen, item. Altho
things of this purpose are found in all
kitchens, this one is an unlikely choice
for a kitchen ... not that it's weird for
other locations. IOW, if seen in full, it
would be quite obvious what it is.

The blue and orange backgrounds are
not parts of the mystery object. It's a
result of shooting close up without all
my resources for such work, cuz I am
away from home, with minimal gear.

Looks like the edge of something. It might be used as a cutting board but is probably much thinner than most. It might be a clip board, but those would not be found in all, or even most, kitchens. Might be a large glass or heat-resistant plastic pad for setting hot dishes onto the table without damaging the table's surface. As Johnny 5 (from the movies Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2) says, "Need more input!"

Your observation is not way off but do keep in
mind it's not a kitchen item. Here is [slightly]
more input:

Looks like the corner of a glass table top, but most of those wouldn't fit into anything that could be reasonably described as a breadbox - unless it's a very small table, like a folding one such as is sometimes used to hold an individual meal, sometimes called a TV table. Or maybe it's the top to an end table.

I see a bent metal rod or tube. A piece you might see on a napkin holder.

Nope.

Better you should take a hint from
Scoundrel. He's circling around the
solution ... might take him a while.

86 the napkin holder. NOT kitchen !

So take a hint from him and here's
a new hint from me:

Hazy white-ish areas, quite poorly
defined ? Not flaws. It's useful info
but there's extremely shallow DoF,
cuz I'm not traveling with a tripod.

Is this an old-fashioned (1950s and early '60s) counter-mounted jukebox selector with flip index cards that list the tune names?

That would be way cool. But I must suggest you
re-read the description text in the initial post.

If it were sitting around somewhere, not
serving its intended roll, you could, at a
very casual glance, reasonably mistake it
for that sort of thing. But forget the food.

That tells you approximately what it looks
like. But I must point out that the chance
of the MO just "sitting around somewhere,
not serving its intended roll"
is kinda slim.

OTOH, that guess surely earns a new clue:

This is an important part. Slight chance
that this could ... just maybe ... be the
give-away clue. Fire up your intuition
