Default GTCU #1973

This M.O. is a common item, but not a but not something you would own. It will fit in a bread box.

Looks like a pushbutton release for a latch on a piece of luggage or briefcase, but such enclosures typically would not fit in a bread box and people actually own luggage and briefcases. Could also be the release on a portable piece of electronic equipment such as a computer, but people typically own those too, and today's computer models typically don't have such latches.

I am calling foul! It looks like there may be symbols on the buttons but they are almost entirely obscured by the glare and overexposure. Is this some kind of portable musical instrument? An electronic measuring device?

Not buttons. Not a musical instrument, but does make a sound. Does not measure anything.

Next clue to confuse the issue -
