It's that time of year again! Either you, or your kids have carved pumpkins in the years past, and you have photos of them somewhere.
Dig them out, and let's see how creative you are, without a camera in your hands.

I'll start.
From 2002

I can't find any images from 2003

From 2004

From 2005 (apparently, I did the same pumpkin 2 years in a row)

Yeah, we went a little pumpkin crazy in 2005.

From 2006

And...

And from 2007

Who knows what I'll do this year. Stay tuned and find out.
In the mean time, dig up yours and share them.

Edit: Yes Athena, carved watermelons count.

A photograph is like a joke. If you have to explain it, it just isn't that good.

rofl - would you believe that I actually shelled out the cash to buy a pumpkin imported from the USA this year?? Cost me a fortune. We haven't carved it yet though because in this tropical heat it won't last long. Probably next Wednesday...

Here's a little secret. If you put petroleum jelly (vaseline) on the cut edges, it will keep the jack-o-lantern from wilting too soon.
If that doesn't work, you can toss your pumpkin in a pool of cold water overnight.
That too will help to moisten it back up.

Cool! (the petroleum jelly) and doh! I do the water trick with other vegetables, never occurred to me to do that with a jack-o-lantern though. lol Thanks.

lemon juice also... and refrigerate when you aren't displaying it (will make it last much longer)

Hmm, I didn't know about the lemon juice. I would have thought that the citric acid in it would make the pumpkin shrivel.

I have however, been known to toss my jack-o-lantern into a swimming pool overnight just to keep it from shriveling. Just make sure the pool isn't heated. It gives you the double benefit of the cold (fridge) and the water.

Cool pumpkin. Was that a bobcat? Or did something happen to its tail?

when you put lemon juice on apple or banana slices, they don't get brown... works the same way with pumpkins!

I've never heard of throwing the pumpkin in the pool overnight! (I've got a pool...)

Where I live, we have NEVER gotten a trick or treater... my parents bought this house about 30 years ago... so... needless to say, it's pointless to put out a bunch of halloween decorations.

Nevertheless! I want to carve a pumpkin (do it every year!) and this year I'll actually take pictures of my work! (believe me, you will NOT be impressed! I have no carving skills!)

so prepare to be uninspired and unamazed by my pumpkin!! LOL
