Old photographs: Remembering the past

Photography's greatest gift to us may be in that it allows us to look back on the past with more than memories or words. Let's use this thread to dredge up some old photos with character. I'm not talking about five years or 10 years ago. I'm talking memories of bygone times...the photos you have in your shoebox. How about it?

OK,

Here is my submission. This is my Grandmother (deceased) when she was a little girl. She is sitting on the tricycle that she won in a contest.

Well that's me a little over seventeen years ago. Taken by my wife with a Canon T90 and Tamron 28-135 Zoom lens.

This is a picture of my grandmother taken in Liverpool, just before the 2nd world war. Unfortunately she was not very well and didn't live much longer.

This a fun thread! I love to see old photos. Here's one of my grandma (now in heaven) at about the age of 2 (around 1919?).

Well Elaine, it is easy to see where your hair came from! :)

These are great pictures. I would love to share some, I'll have to gry to find them, but it will be quite a while, too much stuff, too little time and energy to get to it. ::) :-[

One of my favorites is this photo I took of my girlfriend in 1970.*

We married the following year, and I used the self timer on my Minolta SR-101 to take this picture on our wedding day.

But my favorite is this photo of my daughter, taken 29 years ago.

This is my Granddad who emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1899 and this was taken before he left Scotland!

This photo is printed on tin or some kind of metal and scanned from that.
