Default HS-20EXR first impressions

These are just my initial impressions. I've only had it in hand for 45 minutes but these are the things that stood out.
  • Better image quality... period.
  • Shot-to-shot time is noticeably faster. I'm using a class 10 SD card.
  • Higher ISO capabilities. I've had it up to 1600 with VERY little discernible noise. 3200 is where it starts to become noticeable.
  • The LCD is like watching a HD TV in comparison to the HS-10. Remarkable.
  • The light meter seems easier to control. In the HS-10, it moves so fast that it's hard to control.
  • Faster focusing in all modes.

Yes. There was some talk going around that the Sunpak PZ42X (Nikon) would work on it. I confirmed through Sunpak, Adorama, and B&H that, although it will work manually, there is no iTTL or TTL. So, looks like I'm headed for a waiting spell.

From the HS-20EXR, on a cloudy, crappy day through double-pane glass.

I have an Oly E-620 and while I really like it a lot, when push comes to shove it's the HS-20 I grab when headed out the door. Like anything new, it takes a little getting-used-to. I had a bit of a jumpstart because I previously owned the HS-10. As I told a fellow DSLR owner, "If I were permitted to own just one camera, I would choose the HS-20EXR over the Oly."

It's about the same size as my E-620. But, not having to change lenses is a plus. Not to mention it's other features. Macros are a joy. Add a Raynox DCR-150/250 and it's unbelievable. These were without any attachments.

Outstanding mate.
Why on why have I spent thousands on Canon stuff just to end up with dusty photos?
