Default Coffee is Food, Yes?

Admittedly, these are not some attempt at a pro food shoot, but sitting there I decided to take a couple shots, just to pass the time and give myself a memory. But, I'm not sure which one is better, or why. SO what say you?

Hmmmm a lot to consider between the two. But I like these!

For me, the background is more distracting in the second image. It's brighter and there's more going on, and the brightest spot in the center is more prominent. As for the camera angle, I like the first image better. I like that you can see the spoon and inside the mug. However if the image is for Guinness I think they'd like the second image better, it gives it more emphasis. I like how the creamer separates from the bg better in the first image. I also like how you can see better into the creamer.

I think overall I like the first image the best. It'll be interesting to see what other eyes think!

Now for the obsessive, like me, once I had these images, I'd try to angle the spoon somehow to not hit the glass. I'd move the creamer left, so the handle shadow on it is more complete. Or angle it more so the two handles had more similar angles. Lastly, I know it's difficult, but I'd focus on the reflections on the glass, and see if this could be tweaked. But that gets tricky. I like how in the second image the mug doesn't hit the Guinness logo.

I prefer the 2nd image it's more dynamic, the angle of view in the 1st doesn't feel right. I would even prefer a lower viewpoint to make the Guinness and coffee cup more heroic.

I prefer the angle of view in the first one.
I agree with Rob the background is less clutterd in the first shot.

Coffee and Guinness together. Who would have thought...

I also like the 1st image best. Good job.

I like the first photograph best, because of the slightly higher camera position looking down at the view.

I cast another vote for the first image. If the image is about coffee cream and Guinness the first image wins, the second image allows my eye to wonder in the background.
