New Mac

Just purchased a new 24" Mac monitor and computer combo....

What a great picture it puts out, night and day from my old 17" PC!!!

Now I just have to get all of the software.... hmmm...

Thanks,

I really don't know much about Macs yet, but it is a good time to make the jump.

it was on sale -$300.00 and no sales tax this weekend!!!

Yeah we moved here about 6 years ago and have not looked back for one second...

lots of pretty places to photograph here for sure...

Congrats, Ron. You'll love it.
What model Apple do you have driving that 24" screen?

It is the combo 24" monitor with the computer built in, 2.66 GHz processor, 4 GB of ram, 640 GB for the Hard Drive.

Ah, so it's an all-in-one iMac! Not a separate computer-and-screen combination. Excellent machine! Got one too, and a 17" MacBook Pro, a 20" iMac, and a 17" G4 iMac ("the lamp"). Of those the 24" iMac is the ideal photo editing work station: wickedly fast, gorgeous screen real estate, the OSX UI, and OSX apps.

Yeah the image quality of this machine is impressive for sure, my jaw has not come off of the floor yet it looks so good.

It will make a good photo look great, a great photo look awesome, and an awesome photo look out of this world!!!

Don't you find the glossy screen difficult to deal with when you start working within the blacks and isn't it a little too contrasty?... I am just wondering as I have only worked with the matt screens.

It is a little too early to tell, as I have only had it for about 30 hrs... lol

I have not gotten photoshop for it yet I will have to call them on Monday to see what kind of deal I can get, I hear making the switch from PC to Mac they will let you pay just the upgrade price for it, and not have to pay the full price for the program.

I have worked on one photograph in Photomatix and it looked just great, there were not many blacks in the photograph though...

Time will tell, so far I like what I see..
