Default OSX Leopard - anyone using it yet?

Overall I think it's a reasonable upgrade. The OS actually feels even snappier, which was a nice surprise. I can't get on with the 3D dock, but there's a simple command line switch you can flick to turn it into 2D. Time Machine's working nicely and gives me a secondary backup as well as my usual network backup.

Not really sure that all of the '300' features are worth commenting on, but finder is now much more useful with the breadcrumb, coverflow and quick view options. Very slickly done as usual from Apple. Thumbs up .

I look forward to getting it. Having multiple desktops could be a HUGE gain, as I mostly work from a laptop. It sounds like the big gain will be making the security more modular.

thanks,
Danny

Yes - Spaces works very nicely. It's hardly a novel idea, but they've done it very slickly.

Which computer do you have it running on?
I really like the box it comes in. It's just (Al) gorgeous.
I need to clean my Hard-drive before I can install. Hopefully Sunday.

Expect an .1 update within the next few weeks.

I've got it running on a 24" iMac (the previous to the current glossy screen version). Treated myself to a memory upgrade earlier in readiness for Leopard (3GB). Probably need it too once I start placing particular apps in particular spaces .

Do you scan?

Are Nikon Scan or Epson Scan compatible?

Thanks

I've found no problems with an Epson V7000 - via USB.

Great, Thanks.

Anyone try Nikon software yet for scanners?

Is this new OS a free upgrade from Apple, or does it have to be paid for?

Money money money! It's Apple's way of taxing the users - every 18 months or so OSX gets an incremental upgrade. There are usually some nice new features that lure you in, but it can make the OS look expensive when you add up all the updates over the years (especially if you compare it to XP, which was around for a lot longer).
